the parker duo: bios

 

Victoria Parker began studying the violin at age two-and-a-half with her mother, Sharyn Peterson. Born into a musical family, she grew up performing and touring with her family quintet. Victoria holds a B.M. from Western Michigan University and a M.M. from Manhattan School of Music. She has been a featured soloist with One World Symphony, Las Vegas Music Festival Orchestra, Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Starry Night Chamber Orchestra, Vermont Mozart Festival Orchestra, and Philharmonia Northwest, with whom she recently premiered a violin concerto composed by Roupen Shakarian.

Victoria and her husband, Robert, co-founded the multi-media project Helix Series in New York City. They perform with the band Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground and can be heard on that band’s debut album. Currently a resident of Seattle, she maintains a private teaching studio and substitutes regularly with the Seattle Symphony and Seattle Opera. She records frequently for The House of Breaking Glass studio and for many motion picture soundtracks. Victoria is a founding member of Gossamer, a Seattle-based artist collective.


Robert Parker, guitarist, began his musical career as a trumpeter. He studied trumpet and performed with jazz legend Marcus Belgrave. He has received many awards for performance, composition, and arranging. He is a recording artist and composer for The House of Breaking Glass studios in Seattle. Robert has been a featured soloist with the Starry Night Chamber Orchestra and Marcus Belgrave’s Louis Armstrong Tribute Tour. His playing can be heard on various albums, including A Tribute to Louis Armstrong, Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground, Tennis Pro, House of Breaking Glass, and Tangerine Trousers. Along with his wife Victoria, Robert helped create the New York based multi-media project Helix Series. He serves as Jazz Director of Summer Sounds Music Festival in northern Washington.
